About

A clinical approach to nutrition, shaped by psychology, international experience, and real-life understanding.

Dr. Sara Fenili

Nutrition feeds the body. Understanding feeds the change.

Most people who come to me have tried every diet. They know what they “should” eat. What they don’t know is why they can’t stick with it.

My work integrates clinical nutrition, cognitive-behavioural psychology, and mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) to address both the body and the mind — because sustainable health requires understanding not only what to eat, but how habits, emotions, stress, and lifestyle structures influence daily choices.

I am a Registered Senior Biologist (Ordine dei Biologi della Lombardia, Section A — Senior), a Registered Psychologist (Ordine degli Psicologi della Lombardia), and a Mindfulness Advanced Professional certified in MBSR.

The Journey

My clinical formation began at Villa Miralago, the largest eating disorder residential community in Italy, where I was inspired to develop my core expertise in nutritional rehabilitation and body composition analysis for patients with complex eating disorders. I then expanded into sport nutrition, body composition, and intuitive eating, building an interdisciplinary practice that bridges physiology and psychology.

In October 2022, during the Shanghai lockdown, I relocated to China to become the Resident Senior Biologist in Clinical Nutrition at The Clinic International. There, I worked with an international patient population spanning eating disorders, women’s health, pregnancy, sports performance, longevity, and complex autoimmune conditions.

Supporting individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds — from professional athletes to executives, families, and expatriates — taught me the most important lesson of my career: effective healthcare is never one-size-fits-all. Lasting results come from understanding the individual and building strategies that fit their unique physiology, lifestyle, and goals.

A Transformative Pause

From October 2025 to March 2026, I was on pregnancy leave. This was not a pause from my work — it was a deepening of it. During these months, I wrote Nourishing Mind & Body: The Complete Guide to the Food-Mood Connection, the book that crystallises everything I have learned about the relationship between what we eat, how we feel, and why we make the choices we do.

Becoming a mother while writing about nourishment gave me a dimension of understanding that no textbook could provide.

Across Borders, Centered on People

Today my work spans Italy, Munich, and an international network of patients built during my years in Shanghai.

I provide consultations both online and in person, supporting individuals, families, professionals, and expatriates through every stage of life. Alongside my clinical practice, I collaborate with companies and institutions delivering workshops and keynote talks on nutrition, psychology, stress management, and sustainable lifestyle change.

Having lived and worked across different countries myself, I understand that moving abroad changes far more than your address. It reshapes your routines, your relationship with food, your wellbeing, and your sense of balance.

My mission is to help people feel at home in their health—wherever in the world they call home.

My Methodology

My methodology rests on four pillars. My approach combines scientific rigour with practical application, making complex topics accessible and actionable.

1

Clinical accuracy

Evidence-based nutrition grounded in measurable, individual data.

2

Behavioural change

MBSR-informed techniques that turn intention into lasting habits.

3

Psychological integration

Addressing emotions, stress, and the mind-body connection.

4

Long-term autonomy

Building the understanding you need to sustain change on your own.

There is no universal model. Only yours.

Understanding real-life complexity

Before my clinical career, I spent over 15 years working in a multinational environment, up to a regional marketing leadership role.

This experience allows me to deeply understand the reality of high-responsibility roles — including time pressure, decision fatigue, performance expectations, and constant travel.

It is an essential part of my work today.

Because sustainable health cannot be built outside of real life — it has to work within it.

My approach

My work integrates three essential dimensions:

Clinical nutrition

Each plan is based on physiology, medical history, and evidence-based principles.

Behavioral change

Sustainable results depend on habits. We work on routines, consistency, and structure.

Psychological integration

Eating behaviors are often linked to stress, emotions, and personal patterns — and this is part of the process.

This approach allows me to work not only on "what to eat", but on the mechanisms that influence choices over time.

What makes my work different

Many people already know what they "should" do.

The real challenge is applying it consistently.

My work focuses on bridging this gap — between knowledge and action.

Not through rigid plans, but through structure, awareness, and adaptability.

Over time, I have learned that change does not come from strict control, but from understanding.

Understanding your body, your habits, and your patterns.

This is the perspective I bring into my work: precise, but also practical and human.
